Important Turkish Airlines Facts Worth Knowing

May 30, 2018

Sell-Turkish-Airlines

Turkish Airlines has gone from strength to strength in the last decade, and despite facing obstacles it is still soaring high. It is one of the traveler’s favorite airlines when it comes to global travel, because of its excellent service and countless promotions that are always in rotation. Despite being a firm favorite, there numerous things that frequent flyers don’t know about the airline, like how many countries does it fly to? Can loyalty members sell Turkish Airline miles? How long has the airline been functioning? We’re answering all these questions and more.

1. How Many Countries Does The Airline Serve?

As of right now, Turkish Airlines is serving 280 destinations in 118 countries and counting. Right now this is more than any other carrier in the world. The airline is always looking into expanding its horizons and changing its routes. Turkish Airlines for instance is flying to Somalia, Afghanistan, and has a huge network in Africa which is rapidly developing.

The airlines hub (or base) is located in Istanbul and has direct flights to pretty much every country on earth. After taking on Africa, the airline is looking in to introducing a direct route from Istanbul to Australia, which would then become one of the longest flights in the world.

2. Best Airline In Europe

In the mid 1980’s the airline was engulfed with several difficult issues. The brand spiraled downwards because of its poor customer service and insane delays. When a new modern management took over, and a proper strategy was planned out, the Turkish flag carrier rose to new heights and a better image.

Back in 2015, it was awarded by Skytrax with the title of Europe’s Best Airline for the fifth consecutive time, and it was honored with the title last year as well.

3. It Once Operated The Longest Flight In The World

In 2016, Turkish Airlines started operating the longest flight in the world from the Istanbul to Sydney. Only recently the title was snatched by other airlines such as Qatar Airways, Qantas, and Emirates. Rest assured the airline is always making sure to stay ahead of its game and with its ever-expanding routes, it’ll reclaim the title once again.
